By Dianne Pinder-Moss Grant Machan, Director of Environmental Services; Acting Mayor John Gemmell; Shannon Baillon, Director of Community Services (on behalf of former Director of Community Services Shellee Evans); and Councillor Judy Brown celebrate at Tuesday’s (Oct. 6) Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting the Town of Perth’s recent win in the National Communities in Bloom competition. Perth received top honours – a five-bloom rating – in the 4,501 to 9,000 population category, as well as special mention for The Table Community Garden. Gemmell who attended the awards presentation in Kamloops, B.C. on Oct. 3 commented at the meeting that all the entries in that category were great. “We were just a tad better.” The national awards, which are provided by the National Capital Commission, are formed from granite extracted from the Canadian Shield. |
