BIA Annual General MeetingLast year our AGM was be held at Michael’s Table on November 18th . Come for cocktails at 5:30 and mix and mingle with friends. Members enjoyed a delicious three course dinner and the special guest speaker for the evening was Cathy Hay of Hay Design. The BIA Coordinator gave a slide show presentation and show cased our new website, logo, street-scape and our acheivements for 2015. Many thanks to Dawn and her wonderful staff at Michael's Restaurant for helping us create a very successful AGM. We will look forward to seeing everyone at next years AGM in the Fall of 2017. By Dianne Pinder-Moss Grant Machan, Director of Environmental Services; Acting Mayor John Gemmell; Shannon Baillon, Director of Community Services (on behalf of former Director of Community Services Shellee Evans); and Councillor Judy Brown celebrate at Tuesday’s (Oct. 6) Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting the Town of Perth’s recent win in the National Communities in Bloom competition. Perth received top honours – a five-bloom rating – in the 4,501 to 9,000 population category, as well as special mention for The Table Community Garden. Gemmell who attended the awards presentation in Kamloops, B.C. on Oct. 3 commented at the meeting that all the entries in that category were great. “We were just a tad better.” The national awards, which are provided by the National Capital Commission, are formed from granite extracted from the Canadian Shield. July 2015 The signature event of the Downtown Heritage Perth BIA is finally here!! This weekend the Festival will make magic under the maples in Stewart Park. The Stewart Park Festival Committee has done it again, with 99 musicians performing on 3 different stages this weekend. The music will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday and continue until 4 p.m. on Sunday. There will be fabulous children’s activities in the park on Saturday and Sunday as well as children’s shows in the Studio Theatre from 2 - 3 p.m. each day. On Saturday, Rock the Arts Puppets will be taking over the theatre, then offering a work shop in the Children’s Area. Sunday we’ll have an up - close show with the amazing Al Simmons, who will also be performing on the Main Stage and in an evening cabaret setting on Saturday.The children’s games and activities in the Kids’ Area are being run by Taycare Children’s Centres and they’ve promised a full slate of fun! Side Walk Sale Saturday!! We will also be featuring the Stewart Park Festival Side walk Sale on Saturday, July 18th. Because the Festival is often a favourite day trip for families or a yearly weekend road trip for many visitors,please take advantage of these visitors to our community and showcase your products and services that day. Drop rack cards or brochures at the information booth, set up a table outside of your store, add some balloons for fun and become part of the celebration this Saturday. There will be 12 street musicians, so let’s create an energetic vibe! We want visitors to make Perth a destination for shopping this summer and in the future. |
