Join us in celebrating the amazing women in Downtown Perth! On March 8th we will celebrate “the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.” This day belongs to all women and we are very proud of the 50+ businesses in downtown Perth that are owned by women. We asked these talented entrepreneurs, to tell us what International Women's Day means to them. Here are some of the responses. #WD2019 #BalanceforBetter https://www.internationalwomensday.com/IWD2019
CATHY HAY - OWNER OF HAY DESIGN
Cathy Hay is the owner of Hay Design, located on Gore St. in Perth. “As a female entrepreneur International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate the accomplishments we have achieved. It is a day to be grateful to all those that have been part of building our businesses. Being an entrepreneur does not come easy – it takes extremely hard work, long hours, sacrifices and diligence. Business owners have GRIT! It is a positive, non-cognitive trait based on an individual’s perseverance of effort combined with the passion for a particular long-term goal or end state. I commend all entrepreneurs on this Day and encourage them to continue to strive towards their goals. “
ANGIE GILCHRIST - OWNER OF SHADOWFAX
Angie is the owner of Shadowfax, located on Foster St. in Perth "I see International Women’s Day as an opportunity to celebrate all women’s successes! I am proud to say that I am the sole owner of Shadowfax, and I can say that because another business woman left me her legacy to carry on! Having the independence and freedom to make decisions regarding my businesses future is one of the things I love the most. Meeting new people every day and making connections with my loyal customers also top my list of things I love about being a business woman. Perth is full of hard working women and I am honored to be among their company!"
KRISTA MACKLER - OWNER OF KELLY'S FLOWERS AND GIFT BOUTIQUE
Krista is the owner of Kelly's Flowers and Gifts Boutique, located in the Code's Mill Building on Wilson St. "International Women’s Day is a great time to reflect on the many inspirational leaders here in our town of Perth. I am proud to be part of this strong group of women. Perth is fortunate for a small town to have so many women running small independent businesses. The diversity of the businesses contributes to the success of our town and encourages the next generation to pursue small business as a career. "
