The Festival began at 6 p.m. with a bonfire beside the Crystal Palace provided by the Perth Fire Association. Our very own Father Christmas, Brent McLaren opened the festivities and welcomed everyone to the event. The Men and Women of the Tay led the crowd with cheerful Christmas carols. The community sing-a- long set the tone for a wonderful evening.
At 6:30 p.m. the fireworks lit up the sky behind the Crystal Palace and they were spectacular! Immediately after the fireworks everyone was invited inside the Crystal Palace to view the 40 Christmas trees, decorated by our local Perth businesses. It was wonderful to hear the comments of the children and their parents as they saw the beautiful Christmas trees for the first time up close.
This year we have contacted area schools, and senior’s residences to offer them opportunities to come and view the Christmas trees from the inside the Crystal Palace. Kirsten Coughler has offered to open up the building when required and several groups have already requested a visit.
The Table served delicious food during the evening. They offered delicious soup, ginger cookies and great hot chocolate! Once again we thank them for their involvement and we enjoy supporting this organization.
