This week we welcomed two media groups who are writing articles about the Canadian route for Le Boat. We toured the groups through our downtown and visited Top Shelf. The itinerary for the groups was organized by OHTO, and we have a very brief 45 minutes to showcase our beautiful downtown. Monday we hosted nine journalists from Germany and yesterday we hosted three journalists from the UK. Each group was accompanied by a Le Boat representative from their region.
Le Boat opened for the season two weeks ago and since then we have welcomed 12 Le Boat boats to Perth! When we arrived yesterday to meet the UK media team, there was another Le Boat boat, already at the Last Duel docks, and within 5 minutes a second boat docked. We had a wonderful chat with the visitors as we waited for the UK journalists. One boat had two couples visiting from Peterborough and the second boat had one couple from California and the second couple was from Hawaii!
Several downtown businesses have contributed to the hosting of our European media groups, since we were asked to provide food for the visitors to cook their dinner on their boat and prepare a lunch the next day. We were thrilled to showcase the wonderful food in our downtown and we appreciated the enthusiastic involvement of our downtown merchants.
Our thanks to:
Fall River Fashion and Fall River & Co. for candy bark samples and a gift basket for each boat
Perth Pie Co. for baking the pie for each dinner meal and offering a cool drink in this heat
Perth Chocolate Works for offering a sample and creating chocolate truffle boxes for each visitor.
The Sunflower Bake Shop for baking carrot cake cupcakes and pasta salads as well as a vegetarian dish for a group next week
The Crossroads Tearoom for baking a vegetarian quiche and for their homemade poppy seed dressing
The Butchers Edge for the dinner meats, luncheon meats and fresh rolls
Perth Parkside Inn & Spa for graciously donating the use of their shuttle and driver to shuttle our visitors to Top Shelf and back to the dock. Todd is a great Perth Ambassador!
Kelly's Flowers & Gift Boutique for supplying a large maple syrup bottle for each gift basket
A HUGE thank you to Jane and Ron Farrell for helping to pick up all of the sundry items, helping to create the gift baskets and designing a promotional brochure for our international visitors. We couldn't have done it without you! Thank you to Susan Code for showcasing our proud heritage to our visitors.
We are thrilled to welcome Le Boat visitors to Perth!
